According to a situational report issued by community member Aondoungwa Desmond Mbauhar, the area had been relatively calm after security personnel were deployed by the Council Chairman. However, peace was shattered in two attacks the same day.
At about 3:00 pm, a farmer identified as Jonah Mluwam Hwande was attacked in his farm. He was allegedly matcheted down by herders and sustained serious injuries to his arm and back. He was rushed to NKST Hospital in Sai for emergency treatment and later transferred to Rehabilitation Hospital in Mkar for further care.
Later that evening around 9:00 pm, another tragic incident occurred when Mr. Ordue Mbashin went to his farm and did not return. He was later found dead, matcheted beyond recognition.

The community expressed deep frustration that the attacks happened without any intervention from security agencies. The report highlighted recurring complaints that herders often described as “harmless” by security personnel later turn violent against isolated Tiv farmers.
In a passionate appeal, the people of Sai Community called on the Chairman of Katsina-Ala, Governor Hyacinth Alia, the Senator representing Zone A, and other prominent Tiv leaders to take urgent note of the situation. They specifically requested the immediate deployment of the Anyamnyor (a local security network) to protect their farms, lives, and people.
“We are tired of burying our people. We need urgent action and protection,” the statement concluded.
The incident adds to ongoing concerns about farmer-herder clashes and insecurity in parts of Benue State.
