Prominent Idoma leader Godwin Obla has called for the Idoma people to exit Benue State, arguing that after 50 years of political marginalisation they have no business remaining in the arrangement.
In strong remarks, Obla stated that the Idoma are clearly not wanted, pointing out that their names and local governments are absent from proposals for a new Benue region. “We are clearly not wanted. Our names and our local governments are not in the proposal for the new Benue region. We are not there,” he said.
He questioned the continued association, noting that if a group has been together for 50 years yet is told it cannot aspire to certain positions, and even the ones previously allocated to it have been taken away, then it is not truly part of that arrangement.
Obla maintained that Zone C has never been part of Benue’s political arrangement and predicted that the Idoma will exit Benue someday, describing it as only a matter of time.
