In a press statement issued on Friday, July 10, 2026, the APC noted measurable progress recorded by the Alia administration across critical sectors despite inheriting significant financial burdens, including debts, pension liabilities, and a weakened public service. The party highlighted ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects, recruitment of thousands of teachers, improvements in school infrastructure, and revitalization of healthcare facilities.
The statement further pointed to expanded agricultural support programmes aimed at boosting food production and empowering farmers, alongside deliberate efforts to attract investment, stimulate economic growth, and create employment opportunities for the youth. It also reaffirmed commitment to implementing the Supreme Court judgment on local government autonomy in line with the Constitution.
The APC reminded the public that Governor Alia inherited enormous challenges from the previous PDP administration, including decaying infrastructure, salary arrears, abandoned projects, and weakened institutions. Rather than dwell on excuses, the administration has focused on rebuilding institutions and laying foundations for sustainable development.
Addressing the PDP directly, the APC advised the opposition to engage in constructive and issue-based criticism instead of political sensationalism. The party expressed confidence in Governor Alia’s unwavering commitment to his mandate, promising continued focus on security, infrastructure, public service delivery, agriculture, and economic growth.
