Prince Samuel Onuh Emerges as Labour Party’s Senatorial Candidate for Benue South

Prince Samuel Onuh, former Chairman of Ogbadibo Local Government Area, has emerged as the Labour Party’s consensus candidate for the Benue South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement has generated significant excitement across Idoma land, with party members from the nine local government areas of Benue South affirming his candidacy during a peaceful selection exercise monitored by party officials and INEC representatives.

Onuh secured a total of 123,000 votes to clinch the ticket. Speaking shortly after his emergence in Otukpo, he expressed deep gratitude to party members, describing the process as peaceful, transparent, and credible.

“I am deeply humbled by the confidence reposed in me… This victory belongs to every party member who believes in the Labour Party’s vision for a better future,” he said.

He pledged to provide effective representation if elected, stating, “By the grace of God, I will not disappoint the people of Benue South. Together, we will build a stronger platform that will deliver effective representation, development and opportunities for our people.”

The Labour Party Chairman in Benue State, Williams Ochnonu, commended members for their orderly conduct and urged them to intensify grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 polls. He expressed confidence that the party is well-positioned to make significant gains in the upcoming elections.

The development is reportedly causing apprehension in the camps of other aspirants, including Francis Ottah, David Olofu, and Abba Moro.
