Hon. Gbenda Terver, a prominent Benue State youth leader, has issued a strong caution to politicians and supporters to exercise restraint in their choice of words and public statements as political campaigns intensify in the state.
In a statement shared on social media, Hon. Terver warned against character assassination, acrimony, and hate speech, urging all parties to focus on issues rather than personal attacks. He emphasised that anyone making allegations against opponents must be prepared to provide concrete proof beyond reasonable doubt.
“Elections are not war. Your antecedents, capacity, and credibility before the people should speak for you, not necessarily attacks on perceived opponents as bait for political favour,” he stated.
The youth leader stressed the need for responsible political engagement and reminded citizens that those who make allegations must substantiate them. The message comes as various political activities gain momentum across Benue State ahead of future elections.
