Residents of Ohugbane-Agadagba in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State have raised an alarm over attacks on their community by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
According to a report shared by community member Michael Oloche Okopi, the community came under attack in the early hours of Saturday morning, with heavy gunshots heard across the area. No life was lost during the initial assault.
However, the attackers reportedly returned about 30 minutes later and launched another attack that resulted in the death of one person. The assailants, believed to be Fulani herdsmen, were said to have been dressed in army camouflage.
The residents have urgently appealed to security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilante groups, to come to their aid and protect the people. They stated that the people of Benue Zone C are no longer safe, with communities under serious threat, and called for urgent action to prevent further loss of lives.
The community is appealing for immediate help, protection and intervention, urging the public to share the message so that relevant authorities are informed of the situation in Ohugbane-Agadagba.
