Fear has gripped the camp of Ogotu Ojema following the endorsement of Ap o chi Nelson Owoicho by a former member of the House of Representatives, Godday Samuel Odagboyi, ahead of the 2027 elections in Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency of Benue State.
Odagboyi, who represented Apa-Agat u Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, reportedly endorsed Apochi and his political aspiration alongside members of his political family. Apochi, who is seeking to represent the constituency under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, disclosed the endorsement in a statement shared on his verified Facebook account. He described the endorsement as a vote of confidence in his aspiration and his vision for a safer, more prosperous and better-represented constituency.
“I am sincerely grateful to Hon. Odagboyi and his team for believing in this journey. Your support strengthens my resolve to serve our people with humility, dedication, and a genuine commitment to their needs,” he said. Ap o chi added that the endorsement had further strengthened his determination to pursue his ambition and work towards the development of Apa-Agat u Federal Constituency.
The development has sent ripples of concern within Ogotu Ojema’s political camp as the former lawmaker’s backing for Apochi Nelson Owoicho is seen as a significant blow to those still nursing ambitions for the seat. With the 2027 elections on the horizon, political tensions in Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency are expected to intensify, with both sides already bracing for a heated contest in what promises to be one of the most competitive political races in Benue State.
