In a show of unity and commitment to peace, the Executive Chairmen of Ohimini and Otukpo Local Government Areas, along with the National Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, traditional rulers, and security chiefs, paid a high-powered condolence visit to the family of the late Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed.
The delegation, led by Hon. Adole O.J. Gabriel of Ohimini and Hon. Maxwell Ogiri of Otukpo, visited the family’s residence in Onyagede, Otukpo Local Government Area, on Monday, June 29, 2026.
The group included prominent figures such as Amb. Dr. Dickson Akoh of the Peace Corps, traditional rulers from both LGAs, and heads of various security formations.
During the visit, the delegation conveyed the condolences of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia and assured the family of the state government’s commitment to ensuring justice. They urged the Fulani community to remain peaceful, cooperate with security agencies, and resist any temptation for self-help.
The late Alhaji Ardo Risku and his associate, Mallam Yakubu Isah, were ambushed and murdered on June 26, 2026, while returning from a peace meeting. Several suspects have reportedly been arrested in connection with the incident.
Family representative Barr. Isah Mohammed expressed appreciation for the solidarity shown and affirmed the Fulani community’s resolve to remain law-abiding while trusting security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The visit ended with renewed assurances from all parties to continue working together for peace, security, and harmonious coexistence in Benue State.
