SDP Guber Candidate Sebastine Hon Pledges Multi-Pronged War on Poverty in Benue

The Social Democratic Party governorship candidate in Benue State, Prof. Sebastine Hon (SAN), has outlined a series of strategies his administration would deploy to reduce poverty and improve living conditions across the state.

Speaking on Friday while addressing residents of Mbaade in Buruku Local Government Area, Hon said poverty had reduced many Benue people to a level where they had lost their dignity as human beings, adding that it was incumbent on him to reverse the trend.

He disclosed that his government would provide subsidies on agricultural inputs such as fertilizer and herbicides to make them affordable for farmers and boost harvests. The administration would also sink boreholes in rural areas to support dry-season farming.

Hon further stated that industries would be established through public-private partnerships to create jobs for unemployed youth and thereby reduce poverty. He added that granting full autonomy to local governments would empower the third tier of government to employ young people and bring development closer to rural communities.
