Former Anambra State Governor and NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi on Thursday visited Otukpo-Nobi in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State to sympathise with families and residents affected by a recent deadly attack.
Obi expressed solidarity with the bereaved and called for greater attention to the security and welfare of the impacted communities. His visit comes as residents continue to grapple with the aftermath of the violence and heightened concerns over safety in the area.
While en route to the affected communities, Obi made an unscheduled stop at Tito Gate in Otukpo. In a gesture described by observers as humble and spontaneous, he interacted briefly with residents who gathered to welcome him, made some purchases from local vendors, and addressed the crowd before continuing his journey. The stop was noted for the absence of the elaborate security display often associated with high-profile political movements.
The visit has drawn public attention, particularly for the direct engagement with ordinary citizens and the focus on consoling those who lost loved ones in the attack.
