The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration of politically targeting former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Aondona Dajoh, through repeated suspensions based on allegations that the party claims have never been publicly proven.

According to the PDP, Dajoh was first suspended over an alleged impeachment plot against Governor Alia. Months later, another allegation emerged, this time involving the current Speaker. The party says his suspension has now been extended once again, effectively keeping the elected lawmaker out of the Assembly for nearly a year.

The PDP described the continued suspension as political persecution that has denied the people of Gbemacha Constituency proper representation in the Benue State House of Assembly. The party questioned the absence of concrete evidence to justify the prolonged exclusion of an elected official, asking: “If the allegations are serious enough to keep an elected lawmaker out of the Assembly for almost a year, where is the evidence?”
