Benue Governor Swears In Justice Christine Ende, Female Judges Rise to 14 as Bench Strengthens to 33

The Benue State Judiciary on Wednesday achieved a significant milestone with the swearing-in of Hon. Justice Christine Terlumun Clement Ende as a Judge of the High Court of Benue State, bringing the total number of judges in the state to 33.

The ceremony, held at the Old Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi, was presided over by Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia. With Justice Ende’s appointment, the number of female judges in Benue State increased from 13 to 14.

Governor Alia described the appointment as a major step toward strengthening the administration of justice in the state. He emphasised his administration’s commitment to inclusivity, equal opportunity, and the advancement of women in leadership, noting that of the 33 judges currently serving, 14 are women and 19 are men.

Reaffirming his “He for She” philosophy, the Governor stated that empowering women is essential for sustainable development and effective governance. He praised Justice Ende’s distinguished career spanning over three decades in legal practice, judicial administration, human rights advocacy, academia, and public service.

In her vote of thanks, Justice Ende expressed gratitude to God, Governor Alia, the National Judicial Council, and other stakeholders. She pledged to discharge her duties with integrity, fairness, and unwavering commitment to justice and the rule of law.

The event was attended by judicial officers, government functionaries, legal practitioners, and dignitaries, marking another progressive step in strengthening the Benue State Judiciary.
