Agatu Now Peaceful and Open for Business, Declares Council Chairman Melvin Ejeh

The Chairman of Agatu Local Government Area in Benue State, Hon. Melvin Ejeh, has declared that Agatu is now peaceful and free from the previous waves of farmer-herder clashes, urging investors to take advantage of economic opportunities in the area.

Ejeh made the declaration while speaking at the maiden edition of Idoma Day Abuja 2026. He acknowledged that while occasional security skirmishes still occur, the overall situation has improved significantly, making Agatu safe for people to live, work, and invest.

According to the council chairman, major commercial centres in the area, including the Oweto and Obagaji markets, are fully operational. He emphasised that every part of Agatu has been opened to investors.

“I want to inform everyone that Agatu is now peaceful. Although there are still occasional security skirmishes, the situation is stable, and people can confidently come and do business with us,” Ejeh stated.

He further invited investors and entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in fishing, farming, and mining, describing Agatu as open for business.

“The days when Agatu was known only for farmer-herder clashes are behind us. We have moved beyond that era. Today, Agatu is peaceful, welcoming, and ready for growth and development,” the chairman added.

The statement is seen as a significant push to restore confidence and attract investment to the previously troubled local government area.
