Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has inaugurated a committee to restructure the mandates and supervision of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the Benue State Civil Service. The committee was launched yesterday at Government House, Makurdi, as part of the governor’s ongoing efforts to restore efficiency and improve service delivery across the state’s public sector.
Governor Alia charged the committee to thoroughly review the mandates of all existing MDAs, including ministries, bureaus, commissions, and government-owned companies, and to recommend appropriate alignments for effective supervision. He described the assignment as a serious call to service aimed at restoring standard operational procedures, strengthening institutional values, and enhancing the quality of personnel for optimal performance in the civil service.
Barr. Sam Ode, who will also examine the roles of political appointees such as Special Advisers and Assistants, identified and addressed overlapping functions within the system. The governor assured the committee of full governmental support and urged members to take the assignment very seriously.
On behalf of the committee, Barr. Bernard Hom SAN expressed appreciation for the trust reposed in them and pledged to carry out the assignment with diligence. The committee, comprising select distinguished indigenes of the state, is expected to submit its report within two months for government consideration.
The inauguration comes at a time when Benue State is focused on strengthening its civil service for better governance and improved service to the people.
