The First Lady of Guma Local Government Council, Hon. Mrs. Justina Orwough, today marked her birthday by visiting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Ortese, Daudu and Mega Camps. During the visits, she shared food items, wrappers, cash donations and other incentives with the displaced families as a way of showing solidarity with those affected by displacement.
Mrs. Orwough called on the IDPs to continue praying for her husband, Hon. Maurice Orwough, and for the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia. She said their prayers and support remain important in the collective effort to restore peace and stability in the state.
Her husband, the Executive Chairman of Guma Local Government, Hon. Maurice Orwough, also joined the birthday celebration. He appealed to the IDPs to continue praying for peace and assured them that his administration would revisit the camps in due time to further identify with them and provide necessary support. Hon. Orwough promised the displaced persons that permanent peace would return to their communities. He highlighted the security measures being put in place by his administration in collaboration with the state and federal authorities to protect lives and property and ensure the safe return of the displaced persons to their ancestral homes.
