Shaapera Donatus, popularly known as Don Shaap, has been tracked and arrested in the outskirts of Abuja, according to information circulating on social media.
In a post shared on Wednesday, Ukan P Kurugh disclosed that Shaapera was picked up and is currently being held at the Gwarimpa Model City Gate Police Station, also known as Galadima Gate Police Station in Abuja.
The development follows earlier allegations that Shaapera collected money from several individuals under the pretext of processing visas for them. According to those claims, the arrangements later fell through without proper communication or refunds, leaving many of the affected persons in financial distress. Some individuals who spoke about the matter publicly were reportedly threatened with court action.
Kurugh noted that petitions concerning the issue had previously been submitted to the Force Headquarters in Abuja before Shaapera allegedly jumped bail and went into hiding. He urged anyone who paid money for visa processing and neither received the service nor a refund to proceed to the police station, lodge formal complaints and present their evidence.
The post expressed hope that the arrest would finally bring some form of closure to those who say they suffered losses over the matter. Kurugh also stated that he stands by every claim he can substantiate and challenged Shaapera’s lawyers to proceed with any threatened legal action against him for speaking publicly about the allegations.
Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the matter.
