Benue Set for 2026 Fertilizer Distribution Rollout Under Governor Alia

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State is today launching the 2026 Fertilizer and Agricultural Inputs Distribution Exercise as part of his administration’s ongoing agricultural revolution.

The official flag-off is taking place at the Benue Chemical Blending Plant in the Industrial Layout, Makurdi. The programme aims to provide farmers across the state’s 23 local government areas with essential fertilizers and farm inputs to boost productivity during the 2026 farming season.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Chief Dr. Benjamin Ashaver (Yarasuwa I Tiv), was on ground earlier today supervising final arrangements to ensure smooth rollout of the exercise.

The initiative is expected to enhance crop production, improve farmers’ access to quality inputs, strengthen food security, and further solidify Benue’s position as Nigeria’s food basket. Farmers and agricultural stakeholders have expressed high anticipation for the programme, which is seen as a major support for rural communities and the state’s agricultural economy.
