Suspected traffickers identified as Janet and a Babalawo arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department this evening. According to accounts of the incident, Janet allegedly took three Benue girls to the Babalawo for spiritual preparation, including oaths and cleansing, before plans to move them out for prostitution.
The Babalawo is said to have moved one of the victims, identified as Favour, to another village after learning of Janet’s plans, in an apparent effort to prevent her from travelling out. Both suspects were arrested by youths in the area, handed over to vigilantes, and later transferred to the Aliade Divisional Police Station before being moved to the State CID.
Further details on the full extent of the alleged activities remain under investigation.
