Outrage as Benue School Pupils Forced to Sit on Bare Floor for Lessons

A video currently circulating on social media has sparked widespread outrage over the poor learning conditions in a school in Benue State, where pupils are seen sitting and kneeling on the bare floor to receive their daily lessons.

The video, which has gained significant attention online, shows young school children in uniforms gathered outdoors, with many sitting directly on the grass and dirt ground as they participate in classes. In some frames, the pupils are seen kneeling while a man, believed to be a teacher or facilitator, addresses them.

The post, shared by a social media user, described the situation as unacceptable and not conducive for learning.

“A video is currently circulating online showing a school in Benue State where pupils are sitting on the floor to receive their daily lessons. This is not proper and not a conducive learning environment for any child,” the post read.

The author further questioned the approval and oversight of such conditions, asking: “Who approved the existence of such a school under these conditions?” Many commenters have also been asking whether the school is public or private.

The post called on the Benue State Education Board to urgently investigate the matter and make necessary arrangements so that the pupils can learn in a safe and suitable environment.

“These children are the leaders of tomorrow, they deserve better,” the post concluded.
