Governor Alia Commends Benue APC Stakeholders for Commitment to Unity After Reconciliation Meeting

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has expressed sincere appreciation to stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State for honouring his invitation to the reconciliation meeting held on Sunday at the New Banquet Hall of Government House, Makurdi.

In a press statement issued on Monday, May 4, 2026, the governor noted that the presence of key party leaders, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, former Governor Sen. Gabriel Suswam and his Deputy, Chief Stephen Lawani, members of the National Assembly, all members of the Benue State House of Assembly, serving federal government appointees, and other critical stakeholders, demonstrates a shared commitment to the unity, stability, and progress of the party in the state.

Governor Alia specifically hailed the peaceful conduct of the meeting and the spirit of reconciliation shown by all participants. He described the outcome as a major step towards reconstructing trust, confidence, and a spirit of togetherness and cohesion within the APC in Benue State.

While expressing optimism that the resolutions reached will usher in a new phase of peace, oneness, and unison among party members, the governor urged all stakeholders and their supporters to sustain the momentum by embracing dialogue, mutual respect, and collective responsibility in advancing the interests of the party.

He further wished all stakeholders success in their respective aspirations and called for continued collaboration in the pursuit of peace, development, and good governance in Benue State.

This latest statement comes a day after the reconciliation meeting where Governor Alia and Sen. George Akume had issued somewhat conflicting interpretations of the resolutions, particularly regarding the issue of automatic tickets for elected officials.
