The Executive Secretary of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency, Sir James Aondoakaa Iorpuu, has directed the Agency’s Health Focal Person, Dr. Amos Dzungwe, to assess and verify the treatment status and medical bills of victims of the recent attacks in Akpachi and Otukpo-Nobi communities of Otukpo Local Government Area. The directive is aimed at facilitating the prompt settlement of the victims’ hospital bills and ensuring that those receiving treatment continue to have access to necessary medical care.
During an assessment visit to the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital in Otukpo, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Teddy Eyaofun Agida, and the hospital management briefed the Benue-SEMA delegation on the condition of patients currently receiving treatment. The hospital management disclosed that ten newly admitted gunshot victims from Ohimini Local Government Area and Ugboju in Otukpo Local Government Area were receiving treatment following fresh attacks in the areas.
Dr. Dzungwe subsequently visited the hospital wards to assess the condition of the newly admitted victims as well as other patients still undergoing treatment.
