Cult Clash Between Vikings and Aye Groups Rocks Otukpo as Security Makes Arrests

A serious cult clash erupted in the Sabon Gari area of Otukpo, Benue State, between members of the Vikings (DNKI) and Aye (NBM) groups, leaving several people injured before security operatives intervened and made arrests.

The violence, which began yesterday around Offitu Street near Diamond Hotel, started after some Aye members allegedly attacked a boy whose brother belongs to the Vikings. Viking members then went after those involved, caught an Aye lord, attacked him and seized his phone. The Aye number one man, identified as IBB, contacted a former Viking leader known as Don Sea to help recover the phone. After the phone was retrieved and returned, IBB ordered his members to retaliate.

Aye members subsequently attacked a Viking, prompting further retaliation. IBB later joined the confrontation, attempting to shoot a Viking with a locally made pistol that malfunctioned. He was overpowered, disarmed and attacked with a machete. Contrary to earlier reports, IBB was not shot but sustained injuries from the machete attack. One of the Aye members injured during the incident was also pictured in circulating reports.
