Former Benue State House of Assembly Speaker, Hyacinth Dajoh, has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Gboko West State Constituency, citing serious irregularities and a lack of transparency in the process.
In a statement that has stirred reactions across Benue political circles, Dajoh alleged that result sheets were already filled out in some areas before voting even commenced. He also claimed that election materials failed to reach several polling centres, even as winners were reportedly announced in those locations.
The development comes amid the ongoing APC primaries in Benue State, where intra-party tensions have been high. Dajoh, who previously served as Speaker, expressed gratitude to his supporters, delegates, youths, women, and party faithful across Gboko West for their unwavering support. He urged them to remain calm while awaiting further directives.
The withdrawal is seen by many observers as a significant blow to the ruling party’s preparations in the constituency, raising fresh questions about the credibility and organisation of the primary process in the state.
Political watchers are now keenly monitoring reactions from the APC leadership and other aspirants as the party navigates these internal challenges ahead of the general elections.
