Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer for the 2027 Benue State governorship election, has urged the people of Benue to remain vigilant and firmly reject what he described as attempts to grab ancestral lands under the guise of the proposed Forestry, Mines and Solid Minerals Commission Bill.
Aondoakaa made the call while speaking at the dedication and fundraising ceremony for projects at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mbahan, in Shangev-Tiev, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State. The church was constructed through the efforts of a young mechanic, Mr. Ushahemba John Agbe.
The former Attorney General and Minister of Justice expressed concern over certain provisions in the proposed bill, warning that they could undermine the rights of local communities to their ancestral lands and natural resources. He called on the people to closely scrutinize policies and legislation that may adversely affect land ownership and control.
In his remarks, Aondoakaa commended Mr. Ushahemba John Agbe for his commitment and selfless service in building the church, describing it as an inspiring example of dedication to community development and faith.
The event also featured a homily by Rev. Fr. Abraham Alueigba, who urged the faithful to embrace unity, love, and cooperation for the growth of the community.
