Benue State Launches Monthly Aid Distribution for IDPs and Vulnerable Populations

In a significant move to support its most vulnerable residents, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management/Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Sir James Anodokaa Iorpuu PhD, has flagged off the monthly distribution of food and non-food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable people across Benue State. The initiative, announced earlier today, underscores the state government’s commitment to alleviating hardship.

The distribution, which began with a ceremony captured in a post by Asortar James Asortar, includes essential supplies such as food items, blankets, and other necessities aimed at improving the living conditions of those affected by displacement and poverty. The event saw the presence of local officials and community members, with images showing trucks loaded with aid and officials addressing the gathering.

Gratitude was extended to Governor Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, with Asortar praising his administration’s efforts, stating, “Ohitty of the masses is doing the talking.” The aid distribution is part of a broader strategy to provide ongoing support to IDPs and vulnerable populations, reflecting a proactive approach to humanitarian challenges in the region.
