An American-based non-governmental organisation, Equipping The Persecuted (ETP), on Saturday, September 12, 2026, cleared the medical bills of four victims of last Thursday’s attack in Ayilamo, Tombo, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, who were critically injured and are receiving treatment at a private health clinic in Ayilamo.
The ETP delegation, led by Tivta Samuel Aondohemba, who represented the organisation’s Benue State Focal Person, Andy Nomsoor, cleared the medical bills of the four victims and also provided them with additional financial support for their upkeep on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of ETP, Judd Saul, and the organisation’s Media Relations Officer, Barrister Franc Utoo.
Speaking during the presentation, Andy Nomsoor expressed concern over the persistent attacks on the people of Tombo Council Ward in Logo Local Government Area, which have continued to claim lives and displace residents from their ancestral homes on a daily basis. He said the gesture was part of the organisation’s ongoing efforts to bring succour to the victims of the attack and provide immediate support to affected families.
He said the Chief Executive Officer of ETP, Judd Saul, and the organisation’s Media Relations Officer, Barrister Franc Utoo, were deeply saddened by the Ayilamo attack, which reportedly claimed 12 lives, adding that ETP would not relent in its efforts to bring succour to victims of attacks by armed Fulani terrorists in Benue State and advocate lasting solutions to the persistent attacks on farmers across the state.
Nomsoor also conveyed the sympathies of Barrister Franc Utoo to the victims, noting that although he is currently outside the country, he has continued to closely follow developments concerning the killings of Benue people by armed Fulani herdsmen terrorists and the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, stressing that Franc Utoo, an indigene of Benue State whose community has also been displaced, remained committed to supporting affected communities and doing everything within his capacity to assist victims and contribute to efforts aimed at ending the attacks.
The ETP representative called on the Benue State and Federal Governments to move beyond verbal assurances and take decisive action to protect the lives and property of the people of Tombo and Benue State at large. He particularly urged the Benue State Government to intensify efforts to secure vulnerable communities and create the necessary conditions for displaced persons to safely return to their ancestral homes and resume normal lives.
In their separate remarks, the Security Secretary of Tombo Ward, Mr. Terungwa Umishi, and the Medical Director of Myom Health Clinic, Dr. Vershima Duche, who conducted the ETP delegation around the hospital, commended the organisation for its intervention, describing it as the first of its kind. They expressed appreciation to Mr. Judd Saul and Barrister Franc Utoo for the relief provided to the victims, saying that the victims and the entire people of Tombo were grateful for the assistance.
Umishi called on ETP and other spirited individuals and organisations to lend their voices towards drawing global attention to the continued killings of the people of Tombo by armed Fulani herdsmen. He added that Tombo Council Ward had continued to suffer persistent attacks, with little or no effort from the government to bring the deadly attacks to an end.
