Construction has commenced on the Ikyobo-Mbanor-Mhambe road project in Konshisha Local Government Area, a key rural link road expected to connect communities in Konshisha and Ushongo Local Government Areas of Benue State.

The project was flagged off by Engr. Dr. Hon. Chief Livinus Tsar, who serves as Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia’s point man in Konshisha LGA. The road, when completed, will significantly improve transportation between the two neighbouring local government areas, easing movement of people, farm produce, and goods while reducing travel time and costs for residents in the affected communities.

The initiative is seen as part of the broader efforts by the Alia administration to prioritise rural infrastructure development, particularly in hard-to-reach areas where poor road networks have long hindered access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities, and other essential services.

Photos circulating on social media show heavy equipment, including graders and bulldozers, actively clearing and shaping the road surface, signalling that work is progressing steadily on the ground.

The development has sparked discussions among residents and political observers in the zone, with many commending the intervention as a practical step toward addressing long-standing infrastructure deficits in the rural parts of Konshisha and Ushongo.

Community stakeholders have expressed optimism that the road, once fully constructed, will stimulate economic activities, boost agricultural output, and foster greater integration between the two local government areas.

The project aligns with Governor Alia’s repeated emphasis on taking development to the grassroots and ensuring that every part of Benue benefits from his administration’s agenda for inclusive growth and improved living standards.
