A social media post circulating on Facebook has raised serious concerns about the alleged exploitation of women from Benue State, specifically Tiv girls, who have reportedly been moved to Kobape in Ogun State for commercial sex work.

The post, shared by a user identified as D’nkaked Elder Sughnen Y., names a man from Katsina-Ala Local Government Area in Benue State, referred to as Mr. Lanshima Jacob. According to the account, Jacob allegedly relocated several ladies from Benue to Kobape, where he operates a beer parlor and what is described as an “O.S house”—a term commonly understood in Nigerian contexts to refer to places associated with commercial sex or prostitution.

The allegations claim that the women are required to engage in sexual activities with men, with payments directed to a specific “madam” until they fulfill an agreed-upon amount to secure their freedom. The post further states that some of the ladies are reportedly unwell, exhausted, and eager to discontinue the work.

The poster claims to have contacted Jacob directly to verify the information but says the conversation ended with insults from him. The message serves as a “caution note,” urging Jacob to release any women no longer interested in the arrangement and allow them to return home safely to Benue. It concludes by signaling that the next step will involve “action” on the matter.

This incident highlights ongoing challenges related to internal human trafficking in Nigeria, where individuals—often from rural or economically disadvantaged areas—are lured or transported to other states under false pretenses for exploitative purposes, including forced prostitution. Reports from organizations like the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) have documented similar patterns, with victims from states including Benue being moved to locations in the southwest, such as Ogun State, for sexual exploitation or labor.

Benue State has been identified in various anti-trafficking efforts as a source area for victims, with rescues occurring both domestically and internationally in cases involving forced prostitution. Ogun State, particularly areas around Abeokuta like Kobape, has appeared in reports of raids and rescues linked to such activities, though no specific public confirmation ties directly to the named individual in recent official statements.

The claims remain unverified by independent sources or authorities at this time, as no official response from NAPTIP, the Benue State Police Command, or other relevant bodies has been publicly linked to this particular allegation. Social media exposés of this nature often prompt investigations when amplified, especially amid broader calls for action against trafficking syndicates operating across state lines.

The post underscores persistent issues of vulnerability among young women in certain communities, where economic pressures, deception, and exploitative networks contribute to cycles of abuse. Advocates and anti-trafficking groups continue to emphasize the need for awareness, reporting mechanisms, and swift intervention to protect potential victims and hold perpetrators accountable.
