The Benue State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Dr. Benjamin Omale, has charged political stakeholders in Ohimini Local Government Area to bury their differences, embrace unity and work collectively for the re-election of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia in 2027. Omale made the call at the APC State Secretariat in Makurdi when he met with political leaders, elected representatives, party executives, Special Advisers and other key stakeholders from Ohimini as part of a peace and reconciliation initiative aimed at strengthening unity and cohesion within the party.
The APC chairman said personal interests, disagreements and divisive tendencies must not be allowed to weaken the party or undermine the collective aspirations and developmental interests of the people of Ohimini. He urged the stakeholders to channel their energy towards grassroots mobilisation, effective party organisation and sustained support for the APC, including the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Alia and other candidates of the party in 2027. “This is a time for hard work, unity and unwavering commitment. Let us channel our energy toward grassroots mobilisation and effective party organisation to ensure the successful re-election of His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State, alongside all other candidates of the All Progressives Congress,” Omale said.
He stressed that the APC is a family in which every member has a responsibility to contribute to building a stronger political structure, adding that the party’s strength depends on discipline, mutual respect, dialogue and collective responsibility. Responding, the APC Chairman of Ohimini Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Patience Ichakpa, and the Local Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Mrs. Comfort Odihi, welcomed the peace initiative, describing it as an important step towards strengthening unity and cooperation among party stakeholders in the local government. They pledged their commitment to the reconciliation process and called on APC members in Ohimini to put aside personal differences, work together and place the collective interest of the party and the people above individual considerations.
On his part, the Leader of the Ohimini Legislative Council, Hon. Christopher Odeje, commended the initiative and stressed the importance of unity among political leaders and grassroots members, noting that a united party would be better positioned to deliver victory for the APC in 2027. Hon. Odeje also expressed the commitment of the legislative leadership to supporting efforts aimed at strengthening the party’s structure and fostering peace and understanding among stakeholders across the local government. The Lead Point Man of Ohimini LGA, Hon. Wilfred Adegede, similarly commended Omale for bringing stakeholders together, saying the initiative had provided an opportunity for members to reconcile their differences and work towards a common political objective. He said the stakeholders were prepared to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and support the APC’s programmes while working collectively towards the re-election of Governor Alia.
The Gubernatorial Liaison Officer, Hon. Yusuf Husani, also commended Governor Alia for his development efforts across Benue State, stating that the administration’s achievements provided a strong basis for stakeholders to unite and mobilise support for its continuity. Hon. Husani urged APC members in Ohimini to sustain their support for the Governor and the party, stressing that political unity was necessary to consolidate the gains of the administration and attract further development to the local government. The stakeholders consequently reaffirmed their commitment to peace, unity and effective grassroots mobilisation, while urging members to avoid actions and social media engagements capable of creating unnecessary tension within the party. They resolved to move beyond past disagreements, respect constituted party leadership and work together in the interest of Ohimini, the APC and Benue State, with a renewed commitment to securing the re-election of Governor Alia in 2027.
