In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday, the Benue State Government has addressed growing public concerns over recent political developments and security challenges in the state, reaffirming Governor Hyacinth Alia’s dedication to serving the masses and delivering tangible progress.
The statement, signed by Sir Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, described the governor as “unwavering, unshaken, and faithful” to the people of Benue. It comes as the administration seeks to counter what it termed “unsettling narratives” amplified by individuals interested in disruption rather than the welfare of citizens.
Governor Alia, according to the release, remains undeterred and deeply focused on his mission to put the people of Benue first. The statement highlighted key achievements of his administration, including resuscitating abandoned schools and industries, supporting farmers, improving healthcare access, and investing in critical infrastructure.
“From resuscitating, hitherto abandoned schools and industries, supporting farmers to improve healthcare and investing in critical infrastructure, his administration has refused to return to the old order or ‘business as usual,’” the statement read.
The government acknowledged the serious security challenges facing the state but noted that these reflect broader national trends requiring coordinated action. It stressed that Governor Alia is working closely with the federal government, security agencies, community leaders, and neighbouring states to strengthen responses and restore normalcy.
Citizens were urged to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of legitimate security efforts while reporting credible information to authorities. The statement warned that attempts to undermine the administration through fear and falsehoods would fail.
“Your tactics will not succeed. You will fail. Benue’s destiny is not for sale and will not be decided by smear campaigns,” it declared.
The release emphasized that leadership is proven by action rather than rhetoric, citing everyday impacts such as farmers gaining better market access, mothers receiving improved healthcare, and young people being given opportunities to learn and work.
Governor Alia’s administration, it concluded, remains open, accountable, and committed to protecting communities while moving Benue State forward.
