Engineer Polycarp Andura Survives Ghastly Auto Crash After Representing Benue at Lagos Investment Mission

Renowned engineer and renewable energy expert, Engr. Polycarp Tersoo Andura, FNSE, FNIWE, FNIEE, is receiving medical treatment in Abuja after surviving a serious road accident on Thursday, July 16, 2026, while returning from an official investment mission in Lagos.

Engr. Andura had represented Benue State at the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Federal Ministry of Power, and World Bank-backed Renewable Energy Investors’ Workshop in Lagos, where discussions focused on expanding solar power investments and rural electrification across Nigeria.

Following a prolonged flight delay at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, he arrived in Abuja and proceeded to meet the Benue State Commissioner for Power, Transport and Renewable Energy, Hon. Joseph Ter Ijir, in preparation for a scheduled briefing to the Attorney General of Benue State on the outcomes of the investment summit.

Eyewitnesses reported that while driving along the Kurudu Expressway in Abuja, Engr. Andura’s vehicle suddenly lost control, veered off the road, and plunged into a drainage channel. The vehicle was extensively damaged, and the engineer sustained injuries. He was rushed to a hospital and later transferred to Sada Crest Hospital, Apo, for specialist medical care.

Speaking from his hospital bed, Engr. Andura expressed gratitude to Governor Hyacinth Alia for his sympathy and prayers, and to Commissioner Hon. Joseph Ter Ijir for his swift response at the accident scene and hospital visit. He expressed hope for a speedy recovery to continue pursuing renewable energy and power projects aimed at improving electricity supply and stimulating economic development in Benue State.

This is the second major crash Engr. Andura has survived in recent years, having previously been involved in a serious accident in 2024 that left him with multiple fractures. Despite the health challenges, he remains committed to supporting the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia through investor mobilization and professional expertise in power, transport, renewable energy, and rural infrastructure projects.
