In a disturbing case highlighting the ongoing scourge of human trafficking in Nigeria, a young woman from Benue State was reportedly betrayed by her own boyfriend, who allegedly sold her into prostitution.

The incident came to light through a Facebook Reel shared by prominent Benue-based human rights activist Zege’Orkwande Sughnen Yaaya. In the video, the visibly emotional victim speaks out as the activist pledges his support, stating: “The boyfriend sold her out for prostitution. I’ll do my best to return you back home. God be with Benue girl child.”

Zege’Orkwande Sughnen Yaaya, known for his tireless advocacy against human trafficking, particularly cases involving vulnerable young girls and women from Benue State, frequently documents rescues and raises awareness about the dangers these victims face. His posts often detail how girls are deceived or sold by close relations — including boyfriends, family members, or agents — and trafficked to various locations within Nigeria and beyond, such as Lagos, Ghana, Bayelsa, and other African countries.
