Leaders of the Kunav Youths Organization Worldwide have issued a disclaimer dismissing claims that a recent meeting of the group was a rally for another political party, describing the allegation as completely false and misleading.
The statement, released by Comr. Ngorngor Talento Alia, responded to a circulating video by Gbehi Tionsha Iorapuu, a youth and former Supervising Councillor, who alleged that the gathering was organised in support of a different party. The leadership noted that Iorapuu was physically present at the meeting and expressed surprise that he could misrepresent its purpose.
According to the statement, the meeting was strictly a peaceful unity gathering of Kunav youths aimed at bringing people together, promoting unity, and discussing ways of supporting Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia ahead of the 2027 general elections. It was attended by prominent Kunav youth leaders and stakeholders, including former youth leaders Chief Bala Bagu and Saasha Ajav, Livintis, Victor Agber (Bito), Hon. Nevkaa Jacob Ter, the Personal Special Assistant to the Governor on Students and Youth Affairs, the current President of Kunav Youths Organization Worldwide, Hon. Kelvin Bufu, and members of his executive.
Representatives and youth leaders from different political parties were also present, including the APC State Youth Leader, ADC Youth Leader, PDP Youth Leader, SDP Youth Leader, NDC Youth Leader and other stakeholders. The attendees came together in the spirit of unity and agreed to support the APC State Youth Leader, Comr. Moses Bende, as well as Governor Alia in his efforts to continue serving the people of Benue State and for his 2027 re-election bid.
The leadership described the meeting as peaceful, non-violent and strictly focused on unity, youth mobilisation and the collective interest of Kunav youths. It rejected attempts to portray the gathering as a rally for another party, calling such claims a deliberate effort to create confusion and undermine genuine efforts at fostering unity.
The statement further clarified that the role of the APC State Youth Leader remains focused on strengthening the APC, uniting and mobilising youths, and working for the success of Governor Alia and the party ahead of the 2027 elections. It urged the public, especially Kunav youths, to disregard any narrative suggesting otherwise and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to peace, unity, youth mobilisation and the collective progress of Kunav.
