Terver Akase Disputes Claim on Ownership of Nyorgyungu Fountain Estate in Makurdi

A former aide to ex-Governor Samuel Ortom, Terver Akase, has strongly refuted claims that the Nyorgyungu Fountain Estate in Makurdi was executed by the current administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia.

In a social media post, Akase reacted to a statement made by the Managing Director of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC), Dr. Raymond Asemakaha Jr., on Arise News, describing the assertion as inaccurate.

“For the record, the Fountain Estate was conceived, executed, completed, and commissioned by the Ortom administration in 2023,” Akase stated, adding that evidence is available to support this.

He further criticised what he described as a tendency by the current administration to claim credit for projects it neither conceived nor executed, sarcastically suggesting it might soon claim responsibility for the River Benue and the Makurdi Bridge.

Akase also addressed the attribution of 116 housing units under the National Housing Programme to the Alia administration, choosing to let that particular claim pass with humour.

The exchange highlights ongoing political rivalry and debates over project ownership in Benue State.
