Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has refused assent to thirty-three bills passed by the Benue State House of Assembly, including Appropriation Bills, and questioned the legal basis of state expenditure.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the APC described the PDP’s allegations as false, politically motivated, and unsupported by any verifiable legislative or official records. The party clarified that the Benue State Government has consistently operated within the constitutional framework for public finance, including the lawful passage, assent, and implementation of Appropriation Laws duly transmitted by the State House of Assembly.
The APC noted that the PDP’s position relies on an informal remark allegedly made by a former Speaker at a social gathering, which it described as inappropriate and insufficient grounds for such serious constitutional allegations.
