Don’t Allow Takeover of Benue APC Structure from Governor Alia, Tor Tiv and Och’Idoma Appeal to President Tinubu

The Tor Tiv, HRM Prof. James Ortese Ayatse, and the Och’Idoma, HRM Agabaidu Elaigwu Odogbo John, have jointly appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to allow the APC structure in Benue State to be taken away from Governor Hyacinth Alia due to pressure from some political actors.

 

In a formal letter addressed to the President, the two foremost traditional rulers expressed strong support for Governor Alia’s leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. They emphasized that the current party structure emerged through due process and warned against any attempt to impose parallel structures or change the leadership in favour of other interests.

The traditional leaders noted that Governor Alia’s control of the party has enabled him to consolidate leadership, strengthen governance, and align the state with the progressive ideals of the APC administration. They further stated that this has positioned Benue to deliver strong support for the party in the 2027 general elections.

The revered monarchs also appealed to President Tinubu to allow the people of Benue to freely nominate candidates with capacity, rather than imposing candidates. They stressed the importance of traditional institutions and the masses of the state standing firmly with the Governor.

The letter further urged the President to encourage federal appointees from Benue State to deepen their engagement and complement the efforts of the state government in delivering democratic dividends to the people.
