A suspected human trafficker identified as Rita was arrested this afternoon in Aliade, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State, in connection with the trafficking of seven underage Benue girls.
According to reports, four of the minors were intercepted at the Benue Links Nigeria Limited motor park in Aliade, while the remaining three were rescued from Rita’s residence.
The suspect is said to have been camping the girls in her room before sending them out in batches to Ghana.
Rita is currently in the custody of the Benue State Police Command at the Aliade Division, pending the transfer of the case to Makurdi.
The Executive Chairman of Gwer East Local Government Area has been acknowledged for support in the operation.
