A video statement by a Fulani man has ignited fresh tensions in Benue State following the killing of Alhaji Ardo Risku Muhammad, described as a prominent Fulani leader and President of Miyetti Allah.
In the widely circulated video, the man expressed deep anger over the incident, portraying the late Ardo Risku Muhammad as an extremely important figure within the Fulani community. He reportedly compared the deceased to President Ahmed Tinubu and his entire cabinet, stating that to the Fulani communities, it would be better to kill the President, his ministers, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Defence Christopher Musa, and many others than to kill a person of such stature.
The speaker further claimed that the deceased was a peace-loving leader who had prevented numerous attacks and crimes against the people of Benue State. He warned that the killing would not go unpunished, stating that Fulani residents in Benue are “not ordinary” and would ensure the people “learn” and “regret” the action.
The remarks have sparked widespread concern over possible reprisals and an escalation of violence in the state. As of the time of this report, security agencies are expected to closely monitor the situation to prevent any breakdown of law and order, while authorities are yet to issue an official response to the provocative statement. The incident adds to the already delicate security challenges in Benue State.
