The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and alternative financing mechanisms to accelerate infrastructure and economic development across the region.

Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NCDC, led members of the Commission’s Governing Board and Management on a strategic visit to the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) in Abuja. Dr. Tsenyil emphasized that government budgetary allocations alone are insufficient to meet the region’s infrastructure needs. He highlighted transformative projects under consideration, including railway connectivity across the North Central, dredging of Rivers Benue and Niger, revitalization of the Ajaokuta Steel Company, development of the Jos Inland Dry Port, and other strategic initiatives.

The NCDC boss noted that the region is richly endowed with agricultural resources, solid minerals, tourism potential, and other economic assets that could attract substantial investment with the right infrastructure and financing frameworks.

Responding, the Director-General of the ICRC, Dr. Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh, welcomed the NCDC delegation and commended the Commission’s forward-thinking approach. He assured them of the ICRC’s readiness to constitute a technical team for close collaboration to identify viable, bankable, and profitable investment opportunities capable of drawing both local and international financiers.
