Stakeholders Mark World Day Against Human Trafficking in Gboko, Call for End to the Scourge in Benue

Stakeholders gathered in Gboko on Thursday to mark the World Day Against Human Trafficking in Persons, with the theme “Trapped Behind the Scam.”

The event brought together representatives from Ngo U Tiv, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Benue Command, the Benue State Police Command, the Makurdi Head of Gender, the Attorney-General’s office and other partners. Participants used the occasion to raise awareness and urge residents to say no to human trafficking activities in Benue State.

The gathering featured group sessions, the display of anti-trafficking messages and a collective call for stronger community action against the crime. Organisers emphasised the need for continued vigilance and collaboration among government agencies, civil society and the public to protect vulnerable persons and curb trafficking in the state.
