The Executive Chairman of Guma Local Government Council, Hon. Maurice Orwough, has commended the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for installing solar-powered street lights in communities across Guma. He said the project has improved security, made it easier for people to move around at night, and brought hope to many residents.
Hon. Orwough also appreciated the Benue State Government for partnering with UNHCR and providing an enabling environment for the agency to carry out projects that benefit the people. He noted that the partnership has continued to bring meaningful development to communities in the state.
The Chairman thanked UNHCR for its continued support to Guma through its humanitarian programmes, describing the agency as a reliable partner in improving the lives of displaced persons and host communities. He urged residents to protect the solar street lights from vandalism so that everyone can continue to benefit from them.
Hon. Orwough further reaffirmed the commitment of the Guma Local Government Council to working with the Benue State Government, UNHCR and other partners to bring more development to the people of Guma.
