Questions Arise Over Alleged Office of the First Lady in Benue State Under Governor Alia

Controversy has erupted in Benue State following claims that an Office of the First Lady has been established under Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Tivta Samuel Aondohemba questioned the existence of the office, recalling that upon assuming office in 2023, the current administration had publicly stated that no such office exists constitutionally and accused previous governments of using it as a conduit for mismanagement of public funds.

The post, which has gained significant attention, asked whether anything has changed and suggested possible inconsistencies in the government’s position. It referenced the activities of the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady in Benue State, Her Excellency Scholastica, as evidence of the office’s operation.

This comes as Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is scheduled to visit Benue State on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
