Tiv Youth Organisation Rescues 14-Year-Old Jenifer Zaki Iambo Trafficked Benue Girl in Benin City

The Tiv Youth Organisation (TYO) in Edo State has rescued a 14-year-old girl from Benue State who was trafficked to Benin City and subjected to hardship and domestic labour.

The teenager, identified as Jenifer Zaki Iambo from Manya village in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, was trafficked alongside her younger sister, aged between 10 and 11, by a man identified as Mr. Orzu. According to accounts, Mr. Orzu, who is the brother of the elder sister’s husband, persuaded the girls’ parents to release the children to him with promises of education and a better life.

Jennifer stated that the promised education and improved living conditions never materialised after she arrived in Benin City. Instead, she was subjected to hardship and domestic labour in the home of her mistress, Hon. Dr. Mrs. Osayuki Asemota.

On 30 July 2026, Jennifer sneaked out of the residence while her mistress was upstairs, unable to endure the conditions any longer. She was later found at the Benin Airport terminus by another man from Benue who recognised her and alerted the Tiv Youth Organisation in Benin City.

Members of the TYO Edo State leadership, headed by Comrade Agber Akaajime Gregory, together with ASP Acho and other executives, subsequently visited the residence at Country Home, GRA, Benin City. The mistress was not present at the time. The case has been reported at the Ettete Police Station, GRA, Benin City for further investigation.
