Governor Alia Orders Statewide Emergency Environmental Sanitation for Saturday

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has directed a statewide emergency environmental sanitation exercise on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

The directive follows heavy rainfall and strong winds that deposited large volumes of debris across city centres and major towns in the state.

The sanitation exercise is scheduled to hold between 7:00am and 9:00am. All Local Government Chairmen, relevant departments, agencies, and enforcement officials have been instructed to ensure full compliance.

Residents are advised to clean their surroundings, clear drainages, and properly dispose of waste within the stipulated time. Movement will be restricted during the exercise, except for those on essential duties.

The chairmen and residents of Makurdi, Tarkaa, Gboko, Ushongu, and Vandeikya Local Government Areas have been particularly urged to take note of this announcement.

The directive was announced by Chief Solomon Iorpev, Technical Adviser to the Governor on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication.
