Community in Turmoil as Nigerian Air Force Operatives Forcefully Detain Man in Benue, Sparking Disappearance Outcry

In the early hours of Tuesday, June 9, 2026, operatives of the Nigerian Air Force forcibly entered the residence of Mr. Tor Terngu Anande in Benue State, damaging both the outer and inner doors before taking his younger brother, Aondona Ayua, into custody.

As of the time of this report, the family has not been informed of Aondona Ayua’s whereabouts. Despite searches at local police stations and other detention centres, no information has been provided regarding his location or condition.

This latest incident follows a similar operation on June 4, 2026, when the same Air Force personnel arrested Honorable Peter Hwembe, Honorable Emmanuel Ahambe, and two others, who were subsequently accounted for and held at a known facility.

The unexplained disappearance of Aondona Ayua has caused distress to his family and the wider community. The family has expressed concern that the action, carried out without a court order or warrant, appears to violate legal protections.
