Buruku Council Chairman Hon. Raymond Zege Suspends Youth Leadership and Market Head Installations in Mbaakura Over Security Concerns

The Executive Chairman of Buruku Local Government Council, Hon. Raymond Zege Aondoakura, has directed the immediate suspension of all installations, inaugurations, or recognitions of any Youth Leadership structure and Market Head (Tor Geri) in Ugbema Community of Mbaakura in Mbagen Development Area.

In a press release issued on Thursday, June 11, 2026, the Council cited growing security concerns in parts of the area, particularly around the Ugbema axis, where incidents of kidnapping, violent attacks, and loss of lives have continued to threaten peace and social harmony.

The directive states that no individual, group, association, or community body shall conduct, organize, endorse, or participate in such installations until further notice. It also suspends any appointment or recognition of a Market Head (Tor Geri) pending consultations and subsequent directives from the Council.

Traditional leaders, community stakeholders, youth groups, market associations, and residents have been advised to remain calm and law-abiding. Security agencies have been notified to monitor compliance and maintain vigilance in the area.

The Buruku Local Government Council reiterated its commitment to promoting peace, security, unity, and sustainable development, urging all stakeholders to cooperate with constituted authorities to prevent escalation of tensions.
