The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga, conducted an inspection of the ongoing renovation at the Assembly Complex on Wednesday, expressing significant dissatisfaction with the contractor’s slow progress. During his routine visit, the Speaker noted that despite full payment by the state government and repeated assurances, the renovation work remains far behind schedule.

Recalling a site visit in June 2025, where the contractor promised to complete and hand over the complex within three months, Rt. Hon. Emberga highlighted the lack of substantial progress since then. He emphasized that the state government, under Governor Hyacinth Alia, has fulfilled its financial obligations, with no outstanding payments owed to the contractor.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Zape Michael Upaa, the Speaker lamented the slow pace, describing it as worrisome, discouraging, and disappointing. He stressed that since his last visit, no tangible advancements have been made, despite the funds being fully disbursed. The Speaker issued a 30-day ultimatum to the contractor, warning that failure to deliver will result in the revocation of the contract, with compensation as stipulated in the contractual agreement signed with the state ministry of works.
