In a positive development amid ongoing security challenges in Benue State, the Executive Chairman of Guma Local Government Council, Hon. Maurice Orwough, has publicly commended security agencies for their proactive efforts that ensured a peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations across communities in the area.

According to a statement released on January 3, 2025, by Ernest Tortiv, Personal Assistant on Communication and Strategy to the Chairman, Hon. Orwough praised the dedication, vigilance, and timely responses of security operatives, which contributed to a relatively calm festive period. He noted that the absence of major incidents during the Yuletide season was a clear indication of effective collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, and the local government.

The Chairman highlighted that the peaceful celebrations stood as a testament to the commitment and professionalism of the security forces, bringing much-needed reassurance to residents and visitors alike. He reaffirmed the council’s ongoing commitment to providing necessary logistics and cooperation to enable security agencies to perform their duties efficiently, emphasizing that security remains a top priority for his administration.
