The Paramount Ruler of the Idoma Nation and Chairman of the Idoma Area Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty Odogbo John, has outlined an inspiring agenda for 2026, calling on Idoma sons and daughters to embrace the new year with purposeful hope rooted in unity, economic self-reliance, cultural pride, disciplined citizenship, and enhanced security.
In his New Year broadcast delivered on Thursday under the theme “Keep Hope Alive,” the Och’Idoma expressed profound gratitude to God for preserving the people through 2025 and granting them the privilege of entering 2026 with renewed hope and a sense of duty. He described the year as a defining moment that demands responsibility over complacency, urging collective resolve to build a stronger and more prosperous Idoma Nation.
The monarch paid glowing tribute to traditional institutions across the kingdom, commending first-class chiefs, district and ward heads, clan and kindred leaders for their quiet yet steadfast service in anchoring peace, order, and stability. He stressed that societies endure through duty, restraint, and consistency, while reflecting on past challenges and emphasising resilience, lawful vigilance, and cooperation as the pathway forward.
A key highlight of the address was the reaffirmation of the sanctity of life, with the Och’Idoma declaring that the life of every Idoma son and daughter is precious and must be defended through lawful courage and collective vigilance. He announced the activation of Community Peace and Security Committees in every ward and clan under the guidance of the traditional institution, working in strict cooperation with recognised security agencies. Additionally, an Idoma Peace Desk will be established at the Palace to receive verified reports, support mediation, and interface with authorities for timely intervention.
On cultural preservation, the monarch called for continued strengthening of the Och’Idoma Square as the central home of Idoma cultural life and a symbol of unity, continuity, and pride. He highlighted successful dialogue platforms held in 2025, including the Idoma National Peace and Unity Symposium in Otukpo and the Royal Banquet in Abuja, noting that progress rests on shared conscience rather than division.
Concluding his message, the Och’Idoma prayed for full restoration of peace, firm rooting of unity, and abundant progress and prosperity in 2026, expressing confidence that with shared resolve and disciplined action, the Idoma Nation will advance in stability and greatness. This thoughtful New Year charge sets a tone of optimism and proactive engagement as the Idoma people step into the year ahead.
