US-Based Persecution Judd Saul Watchdog Issues Terror Alert for Christian Communities in Benue and Plateau States

Judd Saul, Executive Director and Founder of Equipping The Persecuted, has issued a fresh terror alert warning of potential large-scale coordinated attacks by Islamist Fulani ethnic militia against Christian communities in Nigeria’s Middle Belt.

In a video message released on Thursday, July 2, 2026, Saul stated that at least 150 Christians were killed in attacks carried out by the Fulani ethnic militia across the region during June 2026. He cited recent incidents including the massacre of 15 Christians in Katsina Ala Local Government Area of Benue State and the killing of six people in Plateau State on June 30.

According to credible information received from sources on the ground, Saul warned that further major attacks are being planned with a possible execution window beginning immediately and extending through the weekend. He claimed that logistical preparations have been completed, with well-funded and coordinated operations involving experienced fighters trained in guerrilla warfare, infantry, and sniper tactics.

The alert identified fighters mobilized from several northern states including Bauchi, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Taraba, Adamawa, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Plateau. In Benue State, communities believed to be at greatest risk include those in Agatu, Guma, Okpokwu, and Ohimini Local Government Areas. Fighters are reportedly camped in hills and forested areas along access routes near Katsina Ala and borders with Kogi, Taraba, and Nasarawa states.

In Plateau State, targeted areas reportedly include communities such as Farin Lamba in Jos South, Kogom in Vwang District, Rantia in Gyel District, Nyango in Gyel, Gero, Laorou village in Fan District of Barkin Ladi, Senghassa in Fan District, and Mai Edon Taro village in Foron District. Additional threats were mentioned for southern Kaduna.

Saul emphasized that his organization has issued over 200 terror alerts in the past two years with 93% accuracy, based on years of on-ground work in Nigeria since 2011, during which they have assisted over 600,000 persecuted Christians. He urged President Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian military, and police to take immediate action to protect innocent civilians and prevent further massacres.

The alert also called on the international community, particularly the incoming US administration under President Trump, to address the Fulani ethnic militia as the primary group responsible for the majority of Christian deaths in Nigeria, rather than focusing solely on groups like ISIS or Boko Haram.

Saul concluded by encouraging affected communities to take necessary precautions for their safety, while praying for divine intervention to stop the planned violence before more lives are lost.

This latest warning highlights the persistent security challenges in Nigeria’s Middle Belt, where farmer-herder conflicts and targeted violence have claimed thousands of lives over the years.
